It was fabulous to welcome so many new members to our choirs this week! We hope you enjoyed singing with us and didn't feel too overwhelmed by it all. We look forward to welcoming you back every week.
It was also great to see some old friends returning after what feels like far too long. We hope you settle back in soon. Finally, well done everyone for a tremendous start to our Autumn season. What a lovely sound we all made. It was uplifting to be singing together again. Happy singing. x Welcome back and welcome to our new season!
We are always looking to welcome new members. If you know someone who you think might like to join us, then why not ask them, or direct them to this, our latest, stunning, recruitment poster, designed by Rob. Look out for it popping up around the local area soon. Our Autumn sessions resume on Friday 9th September in Ceddesfeld, so hunt out your music and book the evening with us. I look forward to singing with you all again imminently. Oh, and don't forget to join us afterwards in the bar for some liquid refreshment. Finally, remember to put the evenings of December 9th & 10th in your diary for our Winter concerts in the Parish Hall, with rehearsals also in there on Tues 2nd and Fri 6th. Roll on happy singing together...

We've been through a lot together since then! I am sure these do not necessarily reflect Rob's intended final sound, but may help with the learning of parts. Good luck! How fantastic to be performing again and in such a tremendous venue too! Lirica and The Lyrics performed together to raise over £700 for St Edmund's repair fund - well done everyone! To catch a snippet of our opening number, visit us on Facebook: SLYC LogoSLYC have a fantastic new logo! Beautifully created by Neil Edmundson, SLYC's new logo and matching tee-shirts make our young singers look very snazzy whilst their blue hues unify them with the look of Lirica and The Lyric Singers. SLYC PerformSLYC performed at the Mayor's Carol Service in December. They received delightful feedback from our Lady Mayor, councillor Ann Carr and from several members of the audience. It was a treat to hear them singing live again. Well done everyone! Open RehearsalOur final rehearsal in December became a joint open event. SLYC donned their new tee-shirts and performed Christmas music for friends and family in their usual rehearsal slot at Ceddesfeld Hall. Lirica, and The Lyrics united in St. Edmunds and, along with friends who joined us via Zoom, sang a mixture of Christmas songs and old favourites to all who wished to attend. It was great to see some familiar faces and was a lovely way to end what has been for most performers, a challenging year. Christmas Tree FestivalOur choirs entered St. Edmund's Christmas Tree festival. Chris Mills and husband, Alan, deserve much thanks for creating an elegant and stunning design. The festival was a lovely success, showcasing many clever concepts and thoughtful designs whilst helping to raise much-needed-funds for St. Edmunds and Scouting and Guiding groups in the village.
There are now fewer than 20 tickets left for our fundraising event on Saturday 20th November. (New date.) All monies raised will go to St. Edmund's Church fund. If you haven't got your tickets yet, the last few available can be purchased at Tickety Boo, by calling 01740 621196, or contacting choir members. This promises to be a great welcome back event. Don't miss it. It is great to be singing together in person again! And how fabulous that we have 4 new members; one in each section! Welcome to you all. As if that wasn't good news enough, we can now confirm that we shall hold our first concert since returning from lockdown. This will be a joint venture featuring Lirica and the Lyric Singers, held in St Edmund's Church at 7:30pm on Saturday 23rd October. All proceeds to St. Edmund's Church funds. We hope to see you there. COVID-19 |

Hi,
when you're trying to learn your part, committing all the pieces accurately to memory can be difficult, especially if like me, you can't read music, or have no way of picking your part out.
The links below are of varied quality and styles, but listening to them might help your part stick; they are not meant to be a substitute for attending rehearsals.
If I find more, I'll add them.
If you find any more, please send them through so that we can all benefit - use the CONTACT US page.
Enjoy!

Can only find the alto part, so far.
There is definitely a discrepancy between this and our part, but the bits which are the same are identical notes and there only appears to be a section in the middle which we don't have. Anyway, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, at least if you are an alto!
